Opening Reception: Saturday, June 28, 2008; 7-10PM
OVERTONES gallery celebrates five years of existence with a group exhibition "Beauty and The Beast".
"Beauty and the Beast" features CRAIG BUTLER, CHRISTOPHER CHINN, SUE COE, ROBBIE CONAL, AMIR H. FALLAH, VICTOR GASTELUM, SIMONE LOURENÇO, CLAYTON MURDACH, STAS ORLOVSKI, AMY ROSS, MARGI SCHARFF, CAROLE SILVERSTEIN, NANCY SPERO and ALEXIS WEIDIG.
OVERTONES gallery began in 2003 as a contemporary Los Angeles art gallery with a two-fold focus: to support and promote emerging artists in all media; and to showcase the work of established artists to infuse and inspire the coming generations. The gallery's vision is that beauty and social action are inextricably connected and necessary in life and the exhibition "Beauty and The Beast" provides visual proof that beautiful and political art can coexist harmoniously.
Most of the artists included in this exhibition have been presenting their work at OVERTONES gallery from the inception of the space and remain dedicated to both their art and the gallery. Their support and participation in the growth of OVERTONES has been invaluable.
OVERTONES gallery remains committed to searching outside the confines of established art structures and presenting work that has the potential to engage a wide range of audiences.
